A competitive trend is growing within the Commonwealth to build the best-of-the best in energy-efficient home construction, and The Quad Apartments are proud to be recognized for helping pave the way. The building recently received two Kentucky-wide awards for energy efficiency from the Louisville Gas & Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company (LG&E and KU) during the recent Midwest Regional ENERGY STAR Conference, held in Lexington.
One award was for building one of the most energy efficient homes in the LG&E and KU service territories and its “excellence in energy efficiency” in 2011. With a Home Energy Rating System index score of 68, this building is expected to be 32% more efficient than a new home built to standard code.
The building also won the Commitment to Efficiency award for the most multi-family units exceeding code plus 25% efficiency.
“We’re proud to recognize Design-Build Partners (a subsidiary of City Properties Group) and ENERGY STAR-qualified home construction in the Commonwealth. A more energy-efficient home translates to lower energy use and lower energy bills,” said David Huff, LG&E and KU Director of Customer Energy Efficiency and Smart Grid Strategy.
